Police arrest 32-year-old local man on suspicion of sexual assault following CCTV appeal

DETECTIVES investigating an assault on a woman in Warrington town centre during the early hours of Thursday morning have now arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of sexual assault following a CCTV appeal.

It follows an incident at around 2am on Thursday 14 October, when a woman was walking along Barbauld Street when she became aware of a man who was following her.



The man allegedly attempted to grab her and pushed her towards a wall. He then made inappropriate comments towards her. The woman managed to get away and returned home.
Detectives have now arrested a 32-year-old local man on suspicion of sexual assault and he is currently in police custody.
