COVID-19 infection rates rise slightly with 107 new cases confirmed

COVID-19 infection rates have risen for the first time in over a week in Warrington with 107 new cases confirmed in the latest data.

The 107 (99) new cases reported by Public Health England, takes the total number of cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 29,306 (29,199).



Infection rates in Warrington for the last seven days have risen slightly to 559 (554) – 267 (264.6) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period but remain below the national average of 321.4 (312.6) per 100,000, which have risen again.

Meanwhile, across the UK another 122 COVID-19 deaths and a further 31,348 cases have been recorded in the latest 24-hour reporting period.
The vaccination rollout continues, with 26,964 getting their first dose of a COVID-19 jab on Friday, while a further 43,801 had their second dose.
In total, 44,692,956 have now been fully vaccinated across the UK.
The figures come as England’s deputy chief medical officer Professor Jonathan Van-Tam said that COVID-19 still posed a risk to the country.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 506 (506) 241.6 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 202.9.
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 584 (584).

*Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths reported on Saturday, September 25 2021 was 122 (180), taking the total number of deaths to 136,105 (135,983).
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 31,348 (35,623), taking the total number to 7,631,233 (7,601,487).
Across the country, there are 7,124 (7,124) patients currently in hospital and 916 (916) on ventilation.
