COVID-19 infection rates continue to fall although hospital inpatient numbers rise

COVID-19 infection rates are continuing to fall in Warrington although another 99 new cases have been confirmed in the latest data with hospital inpatient numbers increasing slightly.

The 99 (96) new cases reported by Public Health England, takes the total number of cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 29,199 (29,100).



Infection rates in Warrington for the last seven days have fallen again to 554 (576) – 264.6 (275.1) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period which is below the national average of 312.6 (302) per 100,000, which have risen again.
Hospital inpatient numbers have increased locally from 22-25, with two patients discharged overnight.

Meanwhile, the latest figures for the UK include 35,623 COVID-19 cases and 180 virus-related deaths, with 7,124 people currently in hospital with the disease.
Meanwhile, 31,617 people had their first COVID-19 jab yesterday. It means 48,705,771 Britons aged over 16 have now been jabbed (89.6% of that population). And 44,817 second shots were given out, taking the total number of people double-jabbed to 44,644,887 (82.1%).
England’s R number also fell slightly on Friday, to between 0.8 and 1.0.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 506 (505) 241.6 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 202.7.
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 584 (584).

*Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths reported on Friday, September 24 2021 was 180 (182), taking the total number of deaths to 135,983 (135,803).
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 35,623 (36,710), taking the total number to 7,601,487 (7,565,867).
Across the country, there are 7,124 (7,588) patients currently in hospital and 916 (943) on ventilation.
