Firefighters called out twice to tackle fires in the open

FIREFIGHTERS were called out twice last night to tackle fires in the open including an arson incident in a woodland area at Whittle Hall, Warrington.

Just before 7:20 pm onne fire engine from Penketh was called to a small fire in a woodland area off Stanhoe Drive where firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames.



The crew was detained at the scene for around 20 minutes.
The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate and anyone with any information is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101, or visit www.cheshire.police.uk/tua, quoting IML 1079543.
Then at 8:38pm one crew from Birchwood was called to a fire in the open at Culcheth.
Firefighters used a water backpack to extinguish a small fire at the teenage shelter on Common Lane.
The crew was detained for around 15 minutes.
