Residents lose battle to stop industrial unit from being built

PLANNING bosses at Warrington have approved proposals for a new industrial unit despite objections from nearby residents who claim their lives are already being “blighted.”

The industrial unit development is at the Fastcrete plant in New Cut Lane, Woolston.
Residents of Greymist Avenue, Bridge Lane and Manchester were among the 24 objectors – supported by Woolston Parish Council.

The new building will be on a site currently occupied by a number of storage containers.
It will be used for the storing and washing of existing machinery and vehicles, to protect both users and vehicles from environmental elements. The applicant claims the building will reduce noise, dust and general disturbance to nearby residents.
But neighbours said it would increase noise from the site which intended for storage only.
They alleged the owners of the site already breached existing planning conditions.
The parish council was concerned about the visual impact of the proposed industrial unit, noise and damage to residential amenity.
But Warrington Borough Council planning officers recommended the scheme approved as it would improve operations on the site, moving work indoors that was currently done outdoors, resulting in less noise.
