Bats about bats? Join the parish council on a twilight walk

WILDLIFE enthusiasts are being invited to “go batty” by Stockton Heath Parish Council.

The council has organised a bat “talk and walk” at Ackers Pit on Thursday, September 2 (the online talk) and Saturday, September 4 (the walk). Both events start at 7pm.
They will be led by Tony Parker, from World Museum, Liverpool and a member of Warrington Nature Conservation Forum.
For the Walk, the assembly point will be at the weir off Ackers Lane from 7.00pm. A number of bat detectors will be available to borrow, which will help you “hear” the bats as they send out their ultra-sonic signals which help them detect their prey and the obstacles they need to avoid while they are on the wing.



Children must be accompanied by an adult and dogs should be kept on a lead to avoid disturbing wildlife.
Bats are not guaranteed, but there will be lots of information on hand which should enable people to organise their own bat walks in the future.
