A NEW curate has joined St Mary’s Church, Lymm – only days after being ordained at Chester Cathedral.

The Rev Jill Elston is a former secondary school teacher and Christian Schools worker, with a love of crafting and the arts.

She has a strong interest in ways to take better care of the environment as part of God’s creation and is particularly looking forward to hearing how young people in the community feel about their spirituality and, especially, how it relates to their environmental concerns.
Rector the Rev Beverley Jameson said: “We are delighted that Jill is joining us at an exciting time at St Mary’s.
“Once COVID restrictions are lifted we will be re-launching our monthly crafts, songs and worship event for children and families in September. We are also launching a children’s choir in the autumn to prepare for performances at the Christmas Tree Festival, possibly the Dickensian Festival and St Mary’s Christingle service.
“Jill has tremendous skills and talents and will be a great asset to the church and the wider community. it is an absolute joy that she will be with us at St Mary’s.”
Rev Elston said: “I can’t wait to start getting to know the people of Lymm. I’m going to be out and about in the village, so, when you see me, please give me a wave or come and say ‘hello’. It would be great to have a chat with you.”
