Appeal for witnesses after shop staff threatened by man armed with knife during robbery

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery at a shop near Birchwood when staff were threatened by a man with a knife.

The incident took place at around 10am, yesterday, Monday 24 May, when a man entered the Locking Stumps Nisa Store and threatened staff with a knife demanding cash. He then poured coins from the till into the bottom of his jumper and ran off.



The suspect is described as white, in his early 20s, around 5ft 4ins tall and of medium build.
He was wearing a grey hooded top with a long-sleeved black top underneath, dark blue bottoms, white or cream gloves and black and white trainers.
DC Cameron Mackay said: “While no one was injured, it still left staff shocked by their ordeal and we are making a number of enquiries to locate the suspect. If you have CCTV or dash cam footage or any information that may help our investigation I’d urge you to get in touch.”
