Wolves and Tammy the perfect match

Wolverhampton Wanderers has had one of its worst Premier League seasons yet, but of course without the team’s rowdy and loyal fan base backing them, it goes further towards the point being made that having the home crowd behind you makes an enormous difference.

All that aside, the new season is not far off with the slight matter of the European Championship 2020 (being played in 2021) needs to conclude. Meanwhile, Wolves will be looking to finish as high as possible in the league and then start its mission to attract new players for the 2021/22 season.

Wolves still struggling for goals

Wolverhampton Wanderers picked up three points to all but ensure their Premier League survival for another season. A solitary goal from January signing Willian Jose, his first for his new club, was enough to confirm Sheffield United’s relegation to the championship in a dull affair at Molineux.

Wolves fans will be hoping to see some much needed firepower added this summer after unfortunate injuries and disappointing form has left them in mid-table, quite the slump from a top half finish and their European exploits last season Talisman Raúl Jiménez, 29, was ruled out for the season after suffering a horrific head injury back in November. Young striker Fabio Silva, 18, is still finding his feet so much of the goal scoring burden has fallen to Pedro Neto, with another forward Adama Traore also out of form.

Willian José, 29, signed on loan from Real Sociedad, has struggled so far to make any real impact, one goal in twelve Premier League matches. A fee in the region of 18 million pounds to make the move permanent in the summer looks unlikely to be completed. Goals have been hard to come by for obvious reasons, Raúl Jiménez contributing last season to 80% of all their goals, factor in the loss of Diogo Jota who moved to Liverpool and all of sudden Wolves were in deep trouble after Jiminez’ injury.

Wolves Now Premiership Team After Years In The Championship

Wolves spent a large portion of its history in the Championship league battling its way up and earning a loyal support-base. The team soon began challenging for the top spots and playoffs before finally getting promoted to the Premier League.

The great thing about the way the English divisions are set up is that the Championship holds up the footballing industry in the UK bringing in fresh teams like Wolves; a team that is now a formidable force in top flight English football. The forgotten man at Chelsea

Wolves could look closer to home if they are to avoid a repeat of this season. A striker who is proven in the Premier League and seemingly frozen out of his current team is young Chelsea and England striker Tammy Abraham, 23. A forgotten man these days under new coach Thomas Tuchel, Wolves made a previous offer back in the January transfer window of 2019. Abraham was then on loan at rivals Aston Villa, and Chelsea rejected the offer swiftly.

Abraham himself also decided to remain at Villa in order to help them secure promotion to the Premier League, which he did so emphatically, scoring 26 league goals as they went up via the playoffs. He also earned his shot at the vacant number nine spot at Chelsea last season, finishing with 15 Premier league goals and three assists..

Tammy Abraham might see Wolves as an attractive proposition. Nuno Espírito Santo is no stranger to deploying two strikers, and Raúl Jiménez might need some time to get back to his best.Signing Abraham could provide the goals needed to propel Wolves back into the European places. Despite not featuring much this season, Abraham remarkably is still Chelsea’s top scorer this season with 12 goals and also contributing a further six assists across all competitions.

Reports suggest the striker was unhappy to be left out of the recent FA Cup win against Man City, despite Tuchel insisting he needs Abraham to remain focused and be ready for when called upon.

An issue might be the fee Chelsea is looking to receive for the young English striker with reports suggesting a fee in the region of 40 million pounds, given he has two years remaining on his contract. Chelsea themselves might look to cash in to fund targets of their own, notably Erling Braat Haaland or Romelu Lukaku. This deal could work for all parties.
