Plans for 14 new houses approved at Penketh

OUTLINE plans for up to 14 houses on an industrial site at Penketh have been approved by Warrington planners.

The scheme – put forward by Boulting Engineering Ltd – relates to the company’s building in Chapel Road, Penketh.
It was opposed by Penketh Parish Council, borough councillor Linda Dirir and 21 local residents.

Cllr Dirir (pictured) opposed the scheme because of the height of the proposed development -three storeys, difference in ground levels, and removal of trees from neighbouring properties gardens. Penketh Parish Council was also concerned about three-storey properties, loss of residential amenity and overlooking.
Residents were also opposed to three-storey properties, over-development and fears the development would be out of character with the area.
But members of Warrington Borough Council’s development management committee were told the applicant had withdrawn the proposal for three-storey properties.
Officers recommended the scheme for approval and said the proposals would deliver a sustainable contribution to the delivery of new homes on previously developed land in an existing residential area. They did not believe there would be any harmful impact on road safety or residential amenity.
