Police investigate arson attack on industrial bin at Bewsey as fire crews tackle several fires in the open

POLICE are investigating an arson attack on an industrial bin at Bewsey last night, one of several deliberate fires in the open in the Warrington area recently.

Firefighters from Warrington used a hose reel jet to extinguish an industrial bin fire on Troutbeck Avenue, shortly before 9.30pm last night.



The crew was detained at the incident for around 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, in another incident at 15:40 yesterday afternoon fire crews and local PCSOs attended a fire in woodlands near Fox Covert Cemetery at Appleton.
One fire engine attended from Penketh following reports of a fire in the open off Red Lane.
On arrival, the crew found a small campfire.
A water backpack was used to extinguish the flames.
Then during the early hours of this morning at 01:47 one fire engine attended from Warrington attended a fire in the open on Wilderspool Causeway.
Firefighters used water to extinguish a small fire.
The crew was detained at the scene for around five minutes.
