A WARRINGTON college is recognising students who have helped their local communities during the pandemic.

Priestley College has launched “Priestley Heroes” asking staff, parents and friends to nominate those who deserve some acknowledgement for the extra efforts they go to.
“We are lucky to have an amazing cohort of students at Priestley who are all working hard to secure the best A-Level and vocational grades possible this summer,” said principal James Gresty.
“Among them are also many young people who are going above and beyond to make a difference to the lives of others during this difficult time.”
Each of the “Priestley Heroes will receive a congratulatory card from the college, posts on its social media channels and a gift bag.
Among those who have already been acknowledged is Sadie Williams who has worked as a bank public health support worker in the local NHS school-aged immunisation team.
Sadie supported the team in their delivery of more than 23,000 childhood flu vaccinations as well as vital Covid vaccinations for NHS staff.
Another worthy recipient is Hannah Bromley (pictured) who has been volunteering as a SHOUT crisis line worker during the pandemic.
Former student Lucy Rodham was recognised after giving up a family Christmas to remain at Falmouth University where her Polish housemate would otherwise have been alone as travel restrictions meant he couldn’t go home.
She has also started to write to other undergraduates on campus to reassure them they are not alone during lockdown.
“All the stories we’ve heard so far are truly inspiring and we look forward to honouring others who have made similar contributions,” said Mr Gresty.
