Lymm Jubilee WI deliver a little lockdown love

A little lockdown love was delivered to all the members of Lymm Jubilee WI in the run-up to Christmas.

Put together by the committee and distributed to all 120 members, the bags gave much needed seasonal cheer in what was a strange and difficult year for everyone.
A competition was held earlier in the year, prior to lockdown, to create a design commemorating the centenary of the Cheshire Federation of WIs in 2020. All entries received from members were so imaginative that each one was used in the artwork for the bag.
Each bag contained a variety of items including a shiny red bauble, adorned with an image of Lymm Cross and a branded chocolate-filled cracker. In addition, the Assistant Secretary who had become resident cookery demonstrator during the WI Zoom meetings, had compiled a book of her favourite recipes for members to enjoy.
Lymm Jubilee WI’s chosen charity for 2020, The Walton Lea Partnership, also kindly made cloth bags containing a ceramic plant pot, compost and daffodil bulbs and it is hoped members can look forward to them ‘springing up’ in 2021.
The Christmas tree festival usually held at St Mary’s Church, Lymm was cancelled due to the pandemic, so a photograph of the Institute’s tree with all its handmade decorations was used to create the personalised Christmas card given from the committee to each member.
