CHILDREN at Cherry Tree Primary, Lymm, have enjoyed a fantastic festive run-up to Christmas.

Determined to give all the children some extra festive cheer the school, with support of the PTA, arranged lots of Christmas events to keep spirits high.
At the beginning of December children enjoyed a breakfast with Santa, who read a virtual story, while the children had breakfast in their classrooms.
Then he, and his Husky dog, visited each class to drop off Christmas gifts. The school’s secret present gift shop did a roaring trade with every child invited to choose and wrap a secret gift for a loved one. The gifts, all new small items, were donated by parents on a Christmas non-uniform day earlier in the month. The children were also excited to have a visit from two local reindeer.
As the term draws to a close, the children will be celebrating the end of term in their class pyjama party and will get to watch a virtual panto. Throughout the final week the kitchen team has served Christmas themed lunches which include all the children’s favourite meals.
Headteacher Helen Graham said “This year has been challenging one for so many. We were determined to bring some extra festive cheer to school this year. Many of our usual Christmas events could not take place so we re-imagined some of them to enable children to experience them in a different way. It has given us the chance to find more inclusive ways to celebrate Christmas.
“In the past not all children have been able to take part in Santa’s breakfast due to a limit on the number of places in our hall and not everyone was able to come to the school fair and chose a secret gift. This year all our children have had the chance to take part in these events during the school day. We’ll definitely be continuing some of these new Cherry Tree traditions next year.
“Our children have been so resilient this year and we are very proud that they have tackled each new challenge with a positive attitude. It has been lovely to reward their determination and hard work with some extra special Christmas activities. We are incredibly lucky to have such a hard-working PTA, without which many of these events would not have been possible.
“As term draws to a close, we wish all our families and the local community a happy festive season.”
