Christmas trail hailed as a real cracker!

THE first ever Christmas trail at High Legh has been hailed a real cracker.
High Legh Pre-School Nursery and High Legh Primary School joined forces to host the Covid-safe Christmas Cracker Trail.
The magic of Christmas was brought to life in the village as houses along the trail route festooned their properties in lights and decorations to help spread some festive cheer.
Families took a tour around the village to spot the hidden Christmas clues dotted on the houses, before finishing up at St John’s Church where Father Christmas was waiting to greet the children.
The event, which also included a raffle, tombola and cake sale, raised more than £1,000, which will be split between the primary school and the pre-school.
Jenni Cookson, event organiser and chairman of High Legh Pre-School Nursery Committee, said: “Our first Christmas Cracker Trail was a great success and the Christmas spirit is definitely alive and well in High Legh.
“From twinkling lights, penguin displays and even Santa’s washing line – people went to a tremendous effort to decorate their houses and it exceeded all our expectations. It was so lovely to see families out enjoying themselves and the look of joy on the children’s faces.
“Not only did we manage to raise more than £1,000 for two worthy local causes, but it also helped bring our community together and there’s already talk of doing it again next year.”
The event was run in line with Covid-guidance, with staggered starts for the trail, outdoor stalls and social distancing throughout.
