WARRINGTON Rylands 1906 have announced “justified and warranted” contract extensions for manager Dave McNabb and his assistant Fraser Ablett.

Both have signed new two and a half year contracts committing their futures to the club until at least the end of the 2022/23 campaign.
The duo joined Rylands in 2018 ahead of their debut season in the North West Counties League guiding the Blues to the First Division South title at the first attempt.
On course to seal promotion from the Premier Division last season when the season was curtailed by the coronavirus pandemic and declared null and void, Rylands, unsure when their league campaign will restart, entered the recent lockdown top of the Premier Division table with an unbeaten record.
Club owner Paul Stretford said “it’s a decision that’s justified and warranted by the hard work and performances Dave and Fraser have done over a long period of time now. I think the timing was right, it’s been a difficult year, it was a point where coming up to Christmas I wanted to put out a positive message and do something that shows we’re going to progress the club in a professional manner.”
McNabb and Ablett expressed their delight at the new deals with McNabb saying “I’m really excited, the club has become a big part of my life in football and at home. I’m excited with what we are planning for the future and I’m made up to be on board for the next two and a half years. The timing feels right as we are trying to get more stability into the club.” Ablett added “It’s a really exciting project to be part of and we can now focus on doing what we are here for which is being successful on the pitch.”
Having reached the second qualifying round of the FA Cup, Rylands face a long trip to Jarrow next Saturday (12th December) in the FA Vase second round after their planned trip on Saturday was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
The reward for the winners will be an away tie at either Ryland’s NWCFL Premier Division rivals Longridge Town or Barnsley-based Penistone Church of the Northern Counties East Premier Division in the third round which is scheduled to be played on the weekend of Saturday 19th December 2020.
While the first team was kicking their heels on Saturday Rylands reserves were bust restarting their season with a 3-2 away win over neighbours Orford in the Cheshire League second division, Jacob Rowe (2) and Andrew Williams scoring for Rylands who are scheduled to host Pilkington Reserves at Gorsey Lane next Saturday, 2pm kick-off.
