AFTER a month of kicking their heels due to the National Lockdown, Warrington Rylands 1906 returned to the pitch on Wednesday evening when the hosted Northern Premier League side Prescot Cables.

The friendly game was arranged ahead of their Buildbase FA Vase second round tie behind closed doors at Northern League Jarrow FC on Saturday.
Having fallen behind in the opening minutes, Freddie Potter completed the Blues comeback heading the winning goal in the last minute of a competitive game after Elliot Nevitt had equalized.
Uncertainty surrounds when league fixtures will resume. A restart date has provisionally been set for Saturday 19th December, which is also the date for the 3rd round of the FA Vase.
However, this is subject to confirmation by the NWCFL Management Committee following the Government’s review of the Tier restrictions on 16th December. If the majority of the league’s catchment area remains under Tier 3 the restart is likely to be delayed until January 2021.
Rylands Reserve team, who entered lockdown on the back of an 8-0 win against Orford, return to Cheshire League action on Saturday when they play the same opposition on Saturday at the Orford Jubilee Hub, kick off 2pm.
