School’s “virtual” Remembrance service on video

PUPILS and staff at Warrington’s Sir Thomas Boteler CE High School marked the Two Minutes Silence for Remembrance Day standing at their desks.
Normally the school would have held its annual Remembrance Service, but Covid-19 made this impossible so a “virtual” service was produced on video, including readings from students and the school chaplain and a musical performance.
A poppy dress, made from individual poppies made by students and head of art Mrs Sam Joice was worn by Year 11 student Angel Joice in the school’s peace garden.
The video was shown across the school, together with another of teacher Mrs S Woolley playing the last post on trumpet.
Over the two minute silencle, the school’s roll of honour was shown.
School spokesperson Alice Roberts said: “Although we cannot hold our Remembrance Service as usual, we are not prevented from remembering and sharing the stories of the past. We will always remember those who served for us and future generations.”
