Warrington Way Ultramarathon cancelled due to COVID restrictions

THE annual Warrington Way 40 mile trail ultramarathon, which was due to take place on Saturday, November 14, has been called off by the race organisers, Lymm Runners.

Race co-director Kieran Walshe said: “The new COVID government restrictions introduced recently and the prospect that more restrictions will follow in coming weeks, means it is no longer feasible to run the race on 14 November as planned. We are still giving runners the option of running around the race route by themselves at some time during the month of November if they want to, so long as they can do so in compliance with COVID restrictions at the time.
“They can still get a medal and T-shirt – and we look forward to welcoming them to the race again in November 2021”.
The annual Warrington Way race has been taking place every year since 2016, and involves runners following a 40 mile circular route circumnavigating the town of Warrington, starting and finishing in Lymm.
It has been incredibly popular – this year’s race sold out the limited number of 300 places in 12 minutes!
