WARRINGTON North MP Charlotte Nichols has slammed the Test and Trace Excel ‘fiasco’ for an estimated 470 uncontacted cases in the Warrington area.

She says the latest “fiasco” with the Coronavirus response, in which a “technical error” with a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, saw thousands of positive COVID-19 test cases not passed on to contact tracers, saw an additional 157 cases confirmed in Warrington.
Figures from the Department of Health and Social Care have shown that the average case reports an extra three contacts, meaning around 470 people who should be self-isolating have not been contacted.
Ms Nichols said: “This news is extremely concerning and must be rectified immediately. The Government must sort out the problems with track and trace so that we can get the virus under control.
“The enormous efforts of people in Warrington in light of the new restrictions must be not be undermined by this saga.”
Meanwhile Downing Street announced that as of 9.30 am this morning 63 percent of the positive cases had been contacted by Test and TRace following the data glitch over the weekend.

111 new COVID-19 cases confirmed in Warrington along with six new hospital inpatients

  2. The MP is right to be angry about the Test and Trace fiasco but wrong to blame the Government. The finger of blame should be pointed at a dysfunctional IT industry which is renowned for cock-ups.
