CULCHETH Primary School has raised more than £700 with its annual Macmillan Coffee Morning – despite the coronavirus pandemic.

Delicious scones were baked by fabulous baker and Higher Level Teaching Assistant Julie Daintith and scrumptious muffins were provided by the school kitchen staff.
Headteacher Amanda Dodd said: “The uptake was fabulous and over £700 was collected.”
The school was determined to support charities through fundraising but had to think about new, innovative and different ways to do so.
It was obvious the usual Macmillan Coffee Morning could not go ahead, so the school decided to offer cream teas with home-baked scones, jam and clotted cream or muffins for families to order online and enjoy at home
Now plans for a virtual Harvest are well underway and alternative ways to celebrate Christmas are being discussed.

Mrs Dodd said: “While it’s not quite business as normal, the school is trying hard to make things seem as calm and normal as possible for the children.”
Pupils have been enjoying mindfulness lessons and yoga as part of their return to the school curriculum. Some school trips have taken place, after careful risk assessments, so that the children can still take part in a wide range of experiences to complement their learning in school.
Year 1 went to Knowsley Safari Park and other trips are planned before Christmas for Years 2, 5 and 6.
