Nick’s back in town

WARRINGTON BID has responded to the strict new measures to deal with the sharp rise in Covid-19 cases by appointing former town centre manager Nick White, to help with customer and business safety and environmental issues on the high street during the continuing crisis.

Nick has been appointed as full-time Warrington BID (Business Improvement District) manager with immediate effect, managing operational aspects of the project and addressing concerns in the town centre. Nick will be supporting businesses to help them adhere to the changes which include reduced hours for hospitality, table service only and ensuring that premises are safe for their staff and customers, with trace systems, distancing measures and PPE.
Nick, who lives in Appleton Thorn has previously been the town centre manager in Warrington. He comes from Chester BID where he was City Centre Manager and has previously managed Southport BID. Nick’s focus will be on security and environmental issues, supporting members and providing enhanced engagement and support during the challenges of the pandemic.
Interim BID Manager and place marketing specialist, Harriet Roberts will be working alongside Nick for Groundwork Cheshire, Lancashire and Merseyside to deliver the ‘Reopening the High Street Safely’ government funded priorities which has been commissioned by Warrington Borough Council. Harriet will be setting up and working with specific business sector groups and the wider community to understand and address barriers to business and consumer confidence through enhanced communications with stakeholders, partners and local residents.
Warrington BID’s Acting Chair, Emma Hutchinson explains: ‘Nick and Harriet are a strong team with complimentary skills and combined, vast experience in place management in a range of settings. This is great news for businesses in the town centre at a critical time. We are delighted that Warrington BID is involved in the town’s COVID recovery strategy and collaboration between sectors has resulted in strong footfall performance over the summer thanks to customers coming back and supporting the town’s great retail and hospitality offer. With Nick on the ground and Harriet’s role in supporting communications between consumers and businesses, we can step up our game to ensure that during uncertain times, the whole community works together and that we continue to feel confident working in the town centre and visiting shops, bars, restaurants, cultural and leisure attractions.’
