VOLUNTEERS are bidding to make a record-breaking local litter pick over 12 hours tomorrow (Sunday) – and are seeking funds to help future litter picks in the Warrington community.
Members of the Clean up My Community Warrington team are tackling a nine-mile litter picking route right across Warrington, which we will complete in relay form, over 12 hours.
Each team of volunteers doing 2 hour sections, working in safe distanced groups. They will follow Keep Britain Tidy guidelines for distanced litter picking throughout the day.
Over a total of 12 hours, in this way, the teams of volunteers will tidy a 9 mile trail. The day will start at 6am at Whittle Hall and continue through Westbrook and Sankey Valley to the Golden Gates, past the town centre skittles, over Bridge foot, down to Riverside and along the Mersey way, to cross at Kingsway Bridge, then Latchford, over Latchford locks and finishing at Grappenhall St Wilfreds at 6pm.
Tony Dixon from Clean Up My Community Warrington and a Keep Britain Tidy Litterheroes Ambassador, said “This will certainly break some local litter picking records. It demonstrates that people really do care about our town.
“Money we raise will help us raise funds for much-needed litter picking equipment for future activities across Warrington.
