Official launch of Birchwood Shopmobility

BIRCHWOOD Shopping Centre and Warrington Disability Partnership (WDP) continue with their mission to help and support disabled people by launching Shopmobility at the centre this Thursday.

The new Mobility and Independent Living Solutions Store which opened early this year officially launches Birchwood Shopmobility on Thursday 10th September trading between 9am and 4pm from Monday to Saturday.

The scheme is available to anyone with a mobility problem at a cost of £20 for an annual membership plus £1.50 per use. Day membership is also available. People who are existing members of Warrington Shopmobility will be able to extend their membership to use motorised scooters and manual wheelchairs at WDP’s Birchwood and Warrington sites.

Warrington Disability Partnership Chief executive and co-founder Dave Thompson MBE DL commented; “We’re looking forward to launching the Birchwood Shopmobility scheme. Members are advised to book in advance to guarantee the use of a scooter, this can be arranged by ringing the store on 01925 251079. In-store we are following strict Covid-19 guidelines such as protective screens on the counter, regular cleaning and hand sanitisers, the safety of our members and our customers is of paramount importance.”

John Magee, Centre Manager at Birchwood Shopping Centre said; “We are delighted to be extending our working partnership with WDP, utilising their Shopmobility expertise’s enabling those customers who require extra assistance to go about their shopping easily and freely at Birchwood Shopping Centre. It’s great to have the scheme up and running once again.”

  1. This is a long awaited and much missed service.
    As I quite often come shopping on a Sunday when the shop will be closed, will there be an alternative way to use the shop mobility scheme?
