Local Lib Dems welcome new Party Leader

THE election of Sir Ed Davey as the party’s new leader has been welcomed by Cllr Ryan Bate, chair of the Warrington Liberal Democrats.

Commenting on the leadership election result Cllr Bate said: “Ed Davey is an experienced campaigner who combines heavyweight experience with an ambitious plan not only for the party but more importantly for our country.
“There has never been a more important time for liberal values. The Liberal Democrats believe in dispersing power, spreading opportunity and championing the rights of the individual. We recognise that we must change the way we do politics in the UK in order to achieve this and Ed Davey is absolutely the right person to take our party forwards.

“He has set out his vision for delivering a fairer, greener and more caring society. This includes a £150 billion green recovery plan which includes a huge investment in social and affordable housing and a commitment to insulate every home by 2030.
“He has promised to listen to voters. He recognises the excellent job which local Lib Dem councillors and campaigners do in their communities in places like Warrington and he will seek to replicate this on a national level.”
