MEMBERS of the public are invited to a “virtual book launch” arranged by the Warrington-based Department of Music, Media and Performance of the University of Chester.
An afternoon of book launches featuring film, music and language, takes place tomorrow (Wednesday) between 2.30pm and 5pm – with a social distancing difference.
The online event celebrates a series of bowishok publications within the department. There is also a guest talk from an external speaker, exploring the significance of the soundtrack music in the Star Wars films. The event is taking place on Wednesday, April 29 between 2.30pm and 5pm.
Anyone wishing to attend will need to register on Eventbrite 24 hours in advance.
The event has been organised by Dr Mark Duffett, Reader in Media and Cultural Studies at the University.
Since 1999, he has published widely on Elvis Presley and music fandom.
The idea of having collective book launch came because the department had several new books coming out with similar release dates.
A guest talk for the day had already been scheduled so it was decided to combine both things and remote working meant it could be organised as an online publc event.
