Martial arts club to host karate competition

LYMM based karate club Gen’dai Martial Arts in conjunction with Lymm Rotary has organised the first ever Cheshire Shotokan Open taking place on Saturday November 9.

Around 100 karate students of all ages and grades from several clubs from across the Cheshire area will compete both individually and in teams, in a variety of categories.

Sensei Dave Shipton, former UK Karate Champion said: “This inaugural competition has generated a huge amount of interest from clubs around the whole region, as well as of course from the students within our own club.

“Whilst we anticipate the competition to have a strong competitive edge, there will also be an emphasis on fun. There are not enough of these kinds of events in the local area , they build confidence and a promote a strong teamwork ethic for all of the students, and with the help of Lymm Rotary Club, we are proud to host the competition and hope that it will be a great success”.

The competition will take place at Sir Thomas Boteler Church of England High School at 10am on Saturday 9th November.

All spectators are welcome with an entrance fee payable on the day.
