Warrington bounce back to top of the league

WARRINGTON bounced back to the top of the table as a narrow victory took them back above rivals Lindow, who lost at home, in the Vivio Cheshire County League divison two.
Travelling to Stockport Georgians, Warrington won the toss and elected to field first.
Two quick wickets made it clear it had een a good decision and the home side never really got to grips with the bowling were back in the pavilion with only 124 on the board.
The wickets were shared out with two each for Jamie Bye, James Rudd, Brad McIntosh and Chai Gadepalli.
But Warrington also found runs hard to get and at 105-8 the match was in the balance.
But a well struck 30 not out from Liam Heaphy saved the day and earned the team 25 points.
Warrington 2nd were not so fortunate against the Stockport second string at Walton Lea.
The visitors batted first and were restricted to a modest 126-8, Paolo Manfredi taking 4-42.
But Warrington flopped with the bat and were bowled out for just 59.
It was a sadly familiar story for Grappenhall in the premier division where another defeat left them staring at relegation.
Batting first against Hyde at Broad Lane they were rolled over for 135, with only skipper Adam Roylance, 50, and Aussie Olly Knight, 42, reaching double figures.
The visitors lost only four wickets reaching their target, Knight taking 2-14.
Grappenhall 2nd also lost at Hyde, where they batted first and hit 198-6, Stephen Dickson 49 and Ross Arrowsmith 48.
The visitors hit off the runs for the loss of three wickets, Arrowsmith 2-30.
Grappers 3rd XI earned a draw AGAINST Toft at Broad Lane after amassing 303-3, Ben Clissold hitting an unbeaten 168 – 19 fours and eight sixes – and David Coyne 69.
Faced with such a total, Toft settled for  193-9 – Ben Bravington taking 7-40.
In the UKFast Cheshire League, Lymm-Oughtrington Park came off second best in a drawn game with Kingsley at Oughtrington Lane.
The visitors batted first and reached 211-5, Sam Pendlebury andRichard Marshall picking up two wickets each.
Lymm could only muster 127-7, Jack Hughes top-scoring with 39.
Appleton picked up a useful victory at Irby after restricting the home side to 115-9. Amir Aslam took 4-23.
Appleton raced to 118-2, Matthia Partridge hitting 49 and Ali Sharif 54.
The result lifted Appleton out of the relegation zone – but only just.
Appleton 2nd lost at Cholmondely after being restricted to 117-9 – the evergreen David Hurst top scoring with 46.
The home side lost eight wickets reaching their target with Harry Sygrove, Daniel Hyatt and Ed Sygrove taking two wickets each.
Appleton 3rd beat a depleted Prestbury after scoring 168-9 and then dismissing the opposition for 54. Jonathan Owen 33 and Toby White 32 were top scorers for Appleton while Charlotte Cross took 6-30.
Glazebury secured a 54-run victory at Malpas.
Jordan Carroll top-scored with 47 then Sam Stanier took 6-39 as the home side were bowled out for 85.
