Spirited performance – but Grappers still fell short

GRAPPENHALL put up a spirited performance after getting off to a bad start but in the end fell well short in a very good game at Timperley.
The home side batted first and posted a commanding 253-7 off their 55 overs.
Olly Knight,3-69 and skipper Adam Roylance, 3-47, were the pick of the bowlers but the Timperley batsmen scored freely.
In reply Grappers were 90-5 with little hope of saving the game, despite Roylance’s 42.
But then Graeme Rowlands batted superbly to give the visitors a genuine chance.
When he fell for 64 the game was effectively over and Grappers fell short by 42 runs with two overs left.
Grappenhall 2nd lost heavily at home to Upton, who batted first and posted 200-6. Jack Critchley picked up four wickets
Grappers were bowled out for 110 with Critchley top scoring with 29 to offer the only resistance.
Grappenhall 3rd won a close game at home to league leaders Didsbury, despite posting only 147-9. David Coyne batted superbly for 62 and was not out at the end.
Grappers bowled superbly as a unit but David Seed was the star with the ball as he picked up 6-19 off 12 overs.
Didsbury were dismissed for 127 with five overs to spare.
Warrington continued their winning run to stay top of the league, defeating Mobberley by five wickets.
Chai Gadepalli took 4-19 and Brad McIntosh 3-36 as Mobberley were dismissed for 140.
Warrington reached their target with five wickets to spare with McIntosh hitting 59 not out and Jonathan Fletcher 45.
Lymm Oughtrington Park [picked up a welcome win at Barnton.
Batting first they reached a formidable 234-7 in 44 overs.
Barnton showed little interest in going for the runs and were all out for 141
Lymm 2nd were tumbled out for 62, Jack Hughes hitting 28 as they were humbled by Didsbury, who hit off the runs without loss.
The derby game at Appleton against neighbours Stretton went the visitors’ way.
Stretton totalled 145, Jehanger Afridi hitting 42 and Ian McAuley taking 3-18.
Appleton were bowled out for 91, Ali Shariff top scoring with 37. Alijaz Shad took 3-12.
Glazebury could not have fancied their chances after being bowled out for 65 at home to Styal.
But their pace attack of Sam Stanier, 6-8 and Kyle Keeble, 4-22, were too much for the visitors to handle and then were rolled over for 46.

Glazebury 2nd held on for a draw at Europa Exiles after the home side had batted first and hit 181-4. Stephen Brunt, 20 and Gordon Chesworth, also 20, were Glazebury’s best batsmen as the side played out the overs with 109-8.
