Time to reflect as cricket suffers the big washout – again

RAIN washed out every single cricket match in Cheshire – for the second time this summer.
It was particularly unfortunate for Grappenhall, struggling at the bottom of the Vivio Cheshire County League premier division as they were due to take on fellow-strugglers Marple at Broad Lane.
The game would have offered them perhaps their best opportunity of a victory to get them out of their near hopeless situation.
As it is, the abandoned game left them still in bottom place and 51 points adrift of Marple who are themselves in the relegation zone, 10 points from safety.
In division two, Warrington remain top of the table, just two points above fellow title chasers Lindow.
In the UKFast Cheshire League division one, Lymm Oughtrington Park are just one point clear of the relegation zone and in need of a couple of good wins.
In division two, Stretton sit third in the table but Appleton – who had picked up their first victory of the season the previous week – are languishing in the relegation zone, 13 points adrift of safety.
In division four, Glazebury sit comfortably half way up the table.
All clubs will doubtless be hope that the gloomy forecast for the week ahead will brighten enough to get them out in the middle next Saturday.
