THE new-look play area at Enfield Park, Cinnamon Brow, has been officially opened.

Cllr Tony Higgins, Warrington Borough Council lead member for leisure and community, joined local children for the opening.

Grant funding of £50,000 was awarded by FCC Environment through the WREN Community Action Fund. Total cost of the refurbishment was £185,000.

Cllr Higgins said: “We know the huge benefits to health and wellbeing that high quality play facilities bring to young people and families. That’s why we continue our programme of investment in them, in every part of the borough.

“I’m delighted that the refurbished Enfield Park play area is now open, for the whole community to enjoy. The improvements we have made have given the whole area a new lease of life and provided a first class play facility to be enjoyed by children and families for many years to come.”

  1. A huge thanks must go to Angus Lord, the Friends of Enfield Park who got behind the case that has been argued for many, many years, the pupils of Cinnamon Brow Primary School, Richard Smith (WREN) who has championed many Warrington and Halton Projects – especially the Biodiversity one for Mersey Gateway Environmental Trust under the strap line ‘Beyond the Bridges that I was proud to be associated with.

The pupils will be entering a colouring competition (once I get the forms phot copied of a Dragon Fly drawn by Sue of Dragonfly Delights in Culcheth, they will also write poetry and may be a bit of id work in association with the Warrington Nature Conservation Forum and Rhodis – i.e. identifying what forna, flora and wildlife is in the park. Afterall it is their parks future that is as always under threat of Climate Change ect, their chance to map the Natural Environment and look after it. Something that the author David wrote about and champions in his book. Finally big thank you to the staff and Heateacher for bringing the pupils to the event they were impecably behaved and so enthusiastic. – Just like my grandson is when he plays there.

  2. Oh almost for got the project team from the construction team and the council worker from Lees old team who worked on the tree thinning along with yet again Angus who are seen to the front of the photo to the left of Angus.
