A SENIOR fire officer from Warrington is one of two newly appointed assistant chief fire officers for Cheshire.
Gus O’Rourke, aged 57, has been a member of Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service since 1990 and progressed through the ranks to become an area manager in 2011.
He is the father of twin boys.
The other new assistant chief fire officer is Alex Waller, 43, from Widnes (pictured below).
He joined the brigade in 1992 as a 17-year-old apprentice and held a variety of senior leadership roles before being appointed head of service delivery in 2014.
The two assistant chief roles have different areas of responsibility with Mr Waller taking up the role focusing on fire safety, operational policy and corporate performance and projects and Mr O’Rourke taking up the role for service delivery and prevention.
Cllr Bob Rudd, chairman of Cheshire Fire Authority, said: “I am delighted to appoint Gus and Alex to the assistant chief fire officer roles. They were the outstanding candidates in a very strong field.”
