POLICE are appealing for witnesses following an aggravated burglary in Birchwood involving four men wearing balaclavas.

The incident took place at around 9.30pm on Tuesday 11 December when four unknown men wearing dark clothing and balaclavas forced entry into an address on Heather Close by smashing the rear patio doors.

Once inside the men threatened the owners of the property, a 49-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman, with a taser and crowbar and demanded that they opened the safe.

The men then fled the scene via the rear entrance with a large quantity of gold, silver and cash.

Detective Constable Chris Kearney said: “The victims in this case were left terrified as a result of their ordeal and we are committed to doing all that we can to trace the people responsible and bring them to justice.

“Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and as part of the investigation I’m keen to hear from anyone in the local community who has any information, no matter how small, which may assist the investigation.

“I’m also keen to hear from drivers with any dashcam footage who were in the Heather Close area at the time of the incident.

“I’d ask anyone with any information to contact the team here at Warrington on 101 quoting IML 266415.”

Information can also be passed online at https://www.cheshire.police.uk/contact/general-enquiries/ or anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
