“Coach house” scheme approved at second attempt

A PLAN for a single-storey rear extension at a house in Millbrook Close, Glazebury has been given the go-ahead- at the second time of asking.
Members of Warrington Borough Council’s development management committee approved the scheme despite opposition from neighbours and from Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council.
The committee was told the property was a mid-terraced two-bed “coach house” apartment built in the early 2000’s with a design to reflect a distinctive mews-style character. The ground floor consisted of an integral garage and a hallway and stairs leading to the habitable space on the first floor.
The proposal would provide space for an open-plan kitchen and living space on the ground floor and had been amended to retain the appearance of the front of the property.
This meant there would be no change to the front elevation of the property and no harm to the to the character of the “coach house” nor to the street scene.
As such, there was now no justification to refuse the application.
