Popular authors in conversation at the library

TWO popular authors were in conversation at Warrington Library as part of the “Great North West Read” – an initiative to get people across the region talking about a book.
The book in question was “The Craftsman” and its author, Sharon Bolton, was in town to talk about it with fellow writer Cath Staincliffe.
LiveWire’s community librarians organised the event with library partnership organisation Time to Read.
Copies of the “The Craftsman” have been delivered and are now available to borrow from the town’s libraries.
Set in Lancashire, the story starts in 1999 with the funeral of a convicted murderer, and then flashes back to the very different world of when the murders happened in 1969. It covers themes including witch-craft, the police and sexism, and has a strong female lead while still being accessible to non-readers of thrillers as well as both genders.
Sharon Bolton said: “Libraries in the North West played a huge part in my love of stories as I was growing up, and I couldn’t be more pleased that The Craftsman has been selected as the first Great North West Read.”
