Music and theatre collide after Warrington playwright forms rock group

A WARRINGTON playwright is stepping on to a different kind of stage after swapping theatre for music.
Luke Gilfedder, from Padgate, established Finn Youth Productions in 2012 and showcased his plays at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester and even the West End.
However things soon went in a radical new direction when songs written for a future Finn Youth play seemed worthy of recording and releasing in their own right.
The group have now set their targets on the music industry after forming the band One-Way Song.
They will see their debut record”Passionate Leave” released on November 27 by record label
Hilltown Records, an encouraging achievement for young musicians in today’s competitive industry.
The unique story of One-Way Song has already created a buzz on the North West music scene, with debut singles “Dr Spraza Lies” and “Riviera Nightmar”’ leading magazine Louder Than War to hail the project as “otherworldly… like nothing you have ever heard before” and “what art should be all about”*.
One Way Song have also taken the unique step of filming a music video that stretches from the first track of the record to the last, and many locations in Warrington are present in the video, including the Woolston Eyes, the iconic Pink Eye building and even the bowling greens at St. Elfin’s Park!
