HOUSEHOLDERS in the Hall Nook area of Penketh, Warrington, get a chance tomorrow (Thuirsday) to view and comment on future flood risk management proposals affecting their homes.
The Environment Agency is hosting a drop-in session at Penketh Tennis Club, in Hall Nook, from 2pm to 6.30pm.
Details of the local flood risk and how the Environment Agency are proposing to reduce it will be revealed.
Since wide spread flooding across the North West in  December 2015, which saw large numbers of communities affected, the Environment Agency has been exploring ways to better protect areas in the future. This has included extensive appraisal work to identify the best ways of investing government funding allocated to Penketh and Whittle Brooks for managing flood risk.
The project team will be on hand to share the latest developments with local residents.
Officers will also be on hand throughout the event to discuss and answer any other questions residents may have.
Area flood risk manager Christian Wilcox said: “We are pleased to be in a position to share the latest developments for managing future flood risk with the Penketh and Whittle Brooks community.
“We have seen first-hand the devastating impact the flooding can cause to communities and we want to work really closely with the local residents to help reduce their impact in the future.
“Our preferred options for future flood defences in the area are currently being refined, which gives us a great opportunity to further take on-board local knowledge and insight around proposals going forward.
“We would encourage everyone to come along to the drop-in session to learn more about our ongoing work, to contribute by sharing their views and thoughts on the plans and to see how they can continue to be involved as the flood risk management proposals develop.”
