Investigation underway after man injured during explosion at Croft property

A joint fire and police investigation is underway after a man was injured following an explosion during a kitchen fire at a property in Croft, Warrington.

Three fire engines attended – one from Warrington, one from Birchwood and one from Lymm, at the property in Heath Lane at around 3pm yesterday (Friday), following reports of a kitchen fire.

On arrival crews discovered that there had been an explosion in the kitchen and that all persons were accounted for.

They also discovered that a man had been injured.

The area was cordoned off as firefighters worked at the scene.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet.

The casualty was handed over to the care of paramedics. He was taken to hospital with what are believed to be minor burns.

Firefighters were in attendance for around two hours and 40 minutes. Police also attended.
