THE Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) North West has selected Warrington’s  Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Peace Foundation as the charity it will back as part of its 2018 PRide Awards.

The PRide Awards recognise excellence in the region’s public relations sector every November and, each year, the North West committee choose a charity to support through fundraising activities at the awards ceremony.

The Peace Foundation was chosen in recognition of the vital work it has been carrying out in support of peace for the last 25 years. The charity was set up by Tim’s parents Colin and Wendy Parry following the death of their son Tim and Johnathan Ball after the IRA bombing of Warrington in 1993.

CIPR North West Committee Chair Hayley James said: “The work of the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Peace Foundation is essential in helping survivors and others affected by terrorism and it’s our privilege to support them through our 2018 PRide awards.

“The charity itself demonstrates excellence in public relations through bringing people together to achieve one clear purpose – peace and the non-violent resolution to conflict – so it felt right that they benefit from our fundraising efforts a year on from the Manchester Arena bombing.

“We’re looking forward to a great night of celebration in November where the PR community will also dig deep to raise much-needed money for the charity.”

The charity’s co-founder, Wendy Parry, said: “It’s a privilege to have been nominated as the chosen charity at this year’s CIPR PRide North West Awards. This year represents a significant milestone for us as we mark 25 years since the Warrington bombings and we’re incredibly grateful for all the support we have received in 2018 so far.

“We set up the foundation 23 years ago to help people who have been affected by, or are at risk from, extreme violent conflict, including acts of terrorism.

“This year has been an extremely busy and emotional time after the Manchester Arena, London and Paris attacks. We have provided support to thousands of people affected by these incidents, but we rely heavily on donations to allow us to do this work, which is why we are delighted that the PR community in this region have agreed to support us. We are really looking forward to the evening.”

Winners will be announced at a ceremony on Wednesday November 7 at the Hilton Hotel on Deansgate in Manchester and fundraising activities for the Peace Foundation will include a raffle of exclusive prizes.

The Peace Foundation will be represented at the event by Wendy and her husband Colin.

The CIPR marks its 70th  this year which is also is the 25th anniversary of the Warrington bomb attacks, which caused the deaths of Tim Parry (12) and Johnathan Ball (3) and was the catalyst for Colin and Wendy to begin campaigning for peace.
