Work has been completed on a brand new, disability-friendly play area on Oakwood Avenue in Padgate, Warrington.
Designed to be inclusive for all, the £100,000 project has seen the existing play area upgraded, with brand new equipment, surfacing and fencing.
The theme of the new-look play area – which is suitable for children aged 0-13 – is ‘creatures that live in the park’.
Warrington Borough Council’s executive board member for leisure and community, Cllr Tony Higgins, joined local ward councillors and partners on Wednesday August 8 to celebrate the completion of the project.
Cllr Higgins said: “This is our latest investment in Warrington’s play areas and I’m delighted it continues our emphasis on inclusivity for all.
“High quality play facilities bring huge health and wellbeing benefits to young people and families and that’s why I’m sure this refurbished play area will be a fantastic asset for the local community.”
Grant funding of £50,000 was awarded by FCC Environment through WREN’s FCC Community Action Fund for the scheme, with the council contributing a further £50,000 towards the project.
Further works to improve the green space within the park will commence later this year.
