LINDSEY Harrison, Labour’s candidate in the parish council by-election to be held at Stockton Heath on August 16 has launched her campaign.
She has been out and about in the village with party supporters and Warrington South MP Faisal Rashid.
Lindsey, a marketing professional, has lived in the village for more than 20 years and says she will bring a fresh and enthusiastic approach to Stockton Heath Parish Council and village life.
She said: “Stockton Heath village faces many challenges such as parking, congestion, development demand, managing the night time economy, to mention only a few. Likewise local residents want access to first class facilities and services. Stockton Heath Parish Council has a very important role to play in all of these areas. I will work with local residents and the other parish councillors on all of these issues.
“I believe I can bring a new perspective to local decision making and my priority is to help to ensure that Stockton Heath remains a place where it is enjoyable to live, work and spend leisure time.
Mr Rashid added: “Stockton Heath is a thriving village, and living as she does in the centre of it, Lindsey genuinely understands both the pressures that come with living in such a bustling place and also the value of the various assets that the parish council looks after for local residents. I know she will listen carefully to residents’ ideas and concerns, bringing enthusiasm and a strong set of skills to the role.”
The election is West Ward will be a three-cornered fight.
The other candidates are Stephen Taylor (Conservative) and Lyndsay McAteer (Green).
The Liberal Democrats chose not to contest the election in a bid to save nearly £7,000 public money. Whoever is elected will serve for only 18 months until the next election.
