Schools “Parliament” tackles plastics issue

THE seven schools which make up TCAT – Warrington’s Multi Academy Trust – held their second “Parliament” at Sir Thomas Boteler High School.
The Parliament is TCAT’s student council and is made up of four pupils from each school.
It has a chairman, vice chairman, clerk and marketing team.
Current project is to reduce the use of plastic in schools and the Parliament received feedback on work already completed at each school.
TCAT schools now have two big yellow bins, one for paper and one for plastics.
The message for all pupils is: “Please make sure you use the bins and support ‘cleaning up our future’. It starts now, here in your school: put your plastics in the recycling bin and your paper in the recycling bins, in every classroom and the canteen, and your other litter in the normal bins. Support your Parliament – and your planet!”
The schools which comprise TCAT are: Sir Thomas Boteler High, Priestley College, Great Sankey Primary, Penketh South Primary, Beamont Collegiate Academy, Penketh High and Bridgewater High.
