A CHEQUE for £5,100 has been presented to Warrington’s St Rocco’s Hospice by Birchwood Golf Club.
The money was raised by the captain and lady captain, Barry Wilson and Denise Earlam during last year by various means, including a charity golf day, charity bunker on the course, quiz nights and a ladies’ charity lunch.
Lady captain Denise Earlam selected St Rocco’s as her charity and said her family had a long connection with the hospice, starting with her mother who was a borough councillor who supported the initial proposals for the hospice.
Her brother, Father Ken Earlam who was a parish priest in the town, was also involved with the hospice giving spiritual support.
