LYMM Runners have donated £1,600 to their two chosen charities following this summer’s Trail Races.

Mark Hamill, Race Director of the Lymm Festival Trail Races, presented the proceeds from the event to Beating Bowel Cancer and The Christie.

Lymm Runners chose the charities in memory of their very own Sophie Womack who lost her battle with cancer in March this year.

Receiving the donations from Mark Hamill are Kieran Walshe, a Lymm Runner and Non-Executive Director of The Christie, and Mike Womack, Sophie’s husband, who said: “The annual Festival Trail Races here in Lymm were one of Sophie’s favourite runs which she competed in or martialled at every year.

“It’s greatly appreciated that Lymm Runners have donated this year’s profits from the race to two charities which were very close to Sophie’s heart and continue to be close to ours.”

The trail races take place every year in either late June or early July, consisting of a Children’s Fun Run and a 5k and 10k race.
