Bake sale to raise money for defibrillator

A BAKE Sale is to be held to raise money for a lifesaving outdoor defibrillator at Thelwall, near Warrington.
The machine is to be installed at The Barley Store, a 250-year-old building in Laskey Lane, now used as offices by computer software company DriveWorks Ltd.
The company host a bake sale in aid of charity every year and in previous years have raised more than £1,000 for charities such as Macmillan, Cancer Research UK and Alzheimer’s Society.
This year they have decided the sale, on Friday, August 18 should benefit the local community more directly.
Research shows that if a person suffering a heart attack is given Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) they have a three per cent chance of making a full recovery.
If a defibrillator is used in the first, vital few minutes, however, they have a 60-70 per cent chance of a full recovery.
There’s no training required to use the machine and DriveWorks will be working with the North West Ambulance Service to ensure the machine is accessible to the local community.
Once fitted, anyone who needs a defibrillator will be able to call 999, the operator will direct them to the defibrillator and they will be given a passcode to access the machine.
Members of the local community are invited to attend the bake sale and make a donation to the fund. There will be a wide variety of cakes, complementary refreshments and a prize raffle.
It will be open from 12 noon to 4pm.
Anyone who would like more information about the event, or to make a donation of cakes, raffle prizes or donate to the fund, should contact Danielle on 01925757585 or email [email protected]
