Neighbours fight plan to extend nursing home

NEARBY residents have lodged strong objections to a plan to extend a nursing home at Stockton Heath.
The proposals come before Warrington’s development management committee tomorrow (Wednesday) when there will also be opposition to the scheme from Stockton Heath Parish Council.
Permission is being sought for five additional bedrooms at the Arlington House nursing home in Ackers Road.
The plan also involved accessible bathroom facilities, a kitchen store and a change of use of an existing coach house to be used for offices, a hair salon, storage and training rooms.
Ten neighbours have objected on the grounds of inadequate parking in a road which is already an accident blackspot. They also claim the scheme will have a detrimental effect on a conservation area and will result in cars parking in Ackers Road and Hill Top Road.
The parish council complains of an “overbearing nature” which will result in a building out of character with the locally listed property and the street scene.
Changing the use of the coach house is likely to lead to an increased noise nuisance for a neighbouring property, to which it is attached.
They believe there will be a loss of privacy for neighbours and an increase in parking and traffic problems on nearby roads. But planning officers are recommending the scheme be approved.

  1. We have personal experience of this care home. We are very pleased that they are trying to expand the provision to care for our elderly residents in need of care, something which is becoming ever more important these days for all of us. Arlington House has increased its on site parking provision, and the times that we have visited, parking was not a problem, and often, in the evening ours was the only car there.
