Police tackle another night of alcohol and violent crime

WARRINGTON police had another busy night of tackling crime around the town involving alcohol and violence, including an outbreak of disorder on Friars Gate involving four arrests.

Prior to that a woman was arrested at 19.10pm on Cartridge Lane in Grappenhall, where a member of the public not only stopped her but took her keys after she had seen driving erratically.She failed the roadside breath test and was arrested.

At 00:15 a male who failed a roadside breath test, allegedly providing breath samples of 92/94, almost three times the limit.

Then at 00.30 a male was arrested on Bridge Street who had been circulated as wanted for Threats to Kill and Assault.

At 01:00 two males who were allegedly fighting with door staff on Rylands Street were arrested, followed by an outbreak of disorder on Friars Gate at 4.20am when four people were arrested.

Finally at 05:20 proceedings came to a close when a male was arrested on Friars Gate for failing to comply with a dispersal notice.

  1. who actually pays for the extra policing required in the early mornings to cope with these drunks??
    Shut the places at midnight and see what happens for a few months – unless the place pays for extra police -as they do for football matches etc..

    • More reasonably, those who are unable to take their drink and subsequently behave irresponsibly etc etc, should pay all the costs of the Police and local authority involvement in dealing with situations those drunkards create. If they had to pay the reasonable costs of dealing with their inability to drink and behave properly, instead of token fines and other costs currently levied, perhaps they might curb their drinking.
      The sooner we rid society of the lads/lassess will be lads/lasses label the better for everyone.
