Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub will close for two days next week as part of work to reduce carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency at the hub.
The project, which began in summer 2025, has been supported by more than £4 million from the Government’s Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme. The investment is helping to modernise the hub and improve its long-term environmental performance through a range of energy-efficiency measures.
Works have included the installation of new low-carbon heating technology, energy-efficient LED lighting, upgraded building management controls and associated infrastructure improvements. The scheme will enable the hub to move away from fossil fuel-based heating and significantly reduce its carbon emissions.
To complete the project, essential alterations to the building’s electrical infrastructure are required to connect the hub to its upgraded power supply and support the new systems.
As a result, Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub will be fully closed on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September, with no access to any services during this period. There will be no power to the building while the works take place.
Warrington Borough Council anticipates power being restored and normal operations resuming by Monday 14 September, although the timings are dependent on a third-party provider and may be subject to change. Should this occur, customers and users will be updated at the earliest opportunity.

The long-term benefits of the project will be significant, both environmentally and for the people who use the hub every day.”

The council and its partners have been working closely together to minimise disruption and ensure the shutdown period is carefully planned and managed.
