ANGRY residents campaigning against a huge housing development at Peel Hall, Warrington, have produced an “eye in the sky” video highlighting traffic problems in the area.
They say the development is unsustainable and would create increased “traffic misery” in the area.
Local resident Wendy Johnson, who recently co-ordinated a residents rally, said: “Our residents’ campaign team have been working hard again. This time we have focused in on the horrendous traffic problems which are causing chaos on our roads every day.
We have said all along that Satnam’s latest planning application to build 1,200 homes on Peel Hall is totally unsustainable. All the roads that have been earmarked as access points to this proposed development simply cannot cope.
“Hundreds of residents face traffic misery on these roads everyday. Our eye in the sky clearly shows this. Warrington Borough Council’s Planning Department and its planning committee members have to open their eyes to see just how bad this traffic flow really is.
It only takes a brake down or a bump and the whole area becomes completely gridlocked. It’s madness! ”
Another angry local resident Alan Griffiths posted on social media :”Living in my house that’s fronts onto Newton/ Winwick Rd ( White City Estate) we are sick and tired of traffic, never ending traffic, traffic, and more traffic, our window sills are constantly black with road grime, ( very healthy ).
After 27 years of living here, enough is enough, no more developments around here, are you listening , you incompetent shower in the planning Dept . Get real, and stop these crazy plans from going ahead. I wonder how many of there employees live in this area, !!!!. I am furious.”
Satnam are bidding to build 1,200 homes on the land, which has caused a huge public outcry.

Well done the Peel Hall residents group. The local planners and planning committees have for too long failed to understand the consequences of their actions. The residents’ eye in the sky also highlights the consequences of traffic gridlock on the progress or otherwise of road traffic recovery vehicles including ambulances on life or death journeys. Peel Hall and no local A and E would be an even greater nightmare scenario.
This excellent presentation sums up the whole of Warringtons road structure will the council take any notice ? unlikely
