Fill in that form – or face a £1,000 fine

WARRINGTON people are being reminded to respond to the annual household enquiry – or face a fine of up to £1,000.
Each year the borough council sends out forms to every address across the borough as part of the national household enquiry.
The aim of the enquiry is to ensure that the electoral register is up to date and to identify any residents who are not registered so that they can be encouraged to do so.
Steven Broomhead,  the council’s chief executive, said: “So far, only 60.87 per cent of households have returned their form which means there are still around 36,000 properties that have not yet responded.
“It is a legal requirement to provide the information requested on the form and residents must respond even if there are no changes at their address.”
To complete the form online, go to household response.com/warrington using the security code provided on your letter, or fill in the paper copy and return it to the council by post.
Council staff will now begin door-knocking on properties that have not completed the form in a bid to get as many responses as possible before the revised register is published on December 1.
Not being registered to vote can impact on applications for credit cards, mobile phone contracts and mortgages since credit reference agencies use the register to validate applications.
More information about the annual household enquiry is available on the council’s website at warrington.gov.uk/elections
Any residents who have any questions can email the elections team at [email protected] or call 01925 442184.
Mr Broomhead added: “It’s particularly important that anyone who has moved house recently uses the form to check whether they are registered with the correct information.”
